Network Medicine provides an insightful introduction to the new frontier of medicine. As a layman, I readily admit that it was not a fast read for me. My goal was to understand the basics of genomic medicine so I can be a more informed board member of a venture philanthropy initiative, The Alpha-1 Project. This book added substantially to my knowledge base. Certainly, it is looks like we are at the cusp of new era of genomic medicine given the FDA approvals of the Gilead/Kite, Novartis and Spark therapies, and the potential for more gene therapy approvals in 2018/19. Network Medicine is the engine that is making these advances possible and this book should be read by all interested in the future of drug discovery and innovative new therapies.
